Things have been tense around here for a few months. Real tense.
Any military family can tell you that waiting for orders is a roller coaster ride. You convince yourself that you don’t care where you are going. That you’re excited about the new adventure. You’re excited!
It’s not like with a normal job where you put in for it and then *fingers crossed* hope you get it. You get several rounds of “picks”. And you choose from these picks anywhere from 10-30 at a time. And then you have a host of people sitting in a room somewhere who decides where you are going. Probably… maybe not exactly like that? I’ve concluded that there is NO point in setting yourself up.
Our first move as a family we got our 35th pick!! Like, I didn’t even know we put it on there…
And when we moved to Washington we didn’t even put this job down… at all. It’s a completely different specialty than what my husband had been doing in his career.
See… shot in the dark.
And you are either ready to move right away. Like right now, right now. Or it’s more of a bitter-sweet feeling.
Washington has been really great to my little family. We l-o-v-e it here. I’m not a huge fan of the winters, but seriously who really loves winter?
We are only a 6 hour drive to my in-laws or a 1 hour flight to my amazing Grandmother-in-law. Or just Grandma.
We are going to miss them like crazy. They have done so much for us these past two years (almost three). I don’t know how we would have managed little J being in the hospital without their support and help.
Now! With all of that said. I am ecstatic to announce that we got our orders!!
I’m going home!! Yey!! We will be moving to the Fort Pierce area next summer.
It’s been over 5 years since we moved away. And we’ve been ping-ponged all over the US. Florida-Maryland-Washington-and back to Florida.
Oh man! I’m so ready for sandy toes and sun kissed shoulders!
